A boundary survey can be performed for various reasons, to create a new description for the purposes of transferring title to a new parcel of land, a retracement survey of an existing property description to determine the existing boundaries that are currently unknown or unsure. In the event of a construction or modification of a building in order to ensure that the building setback requirements are in compliance with the local building codes or in the event of a requirement of a lending institution that a survey of an existing older description is recommended.
